about us
If it’s a perfect church you want, you’ve come to the wrong place. If you're looking for a sense of community, where people are enthusiastic, encouraging, constantly making mistakes but getting up to have another go, outward facing rather than inward looking… you might have found a church that suits you.

We are evangelical in what we believe and contemporary in character - we aren't standing still. Somehow we manage to sustain a fellowship that includes traditional, charismatic and ‘sort of’ Roman Catholic types all at the same time. It works because God’s Spirit makes it work and makes relationships important.
Fellowship is a big thing for us. So is the Bible... and so is prayer.
Ages range from children to 80+ years with a reasonable balance of male and female. We try to cater for all ages.
The focus of our Sunday morning services is family – so bring your children and relatives along with you at 10.30am. We don't mind a bit of noise from little ones. On Sunday evenings at 6.00pm, it's usually a bit more traditional if that suits you.

The Methodist Church is at the heart of the former mining village of Great Lumley in County Durham and we are part of the Chester-le-Street Methodist Circuit. More important than all that, we want Jesus to be at the centre of all we are and all we do.
